Lagos Set for Grand Finale as Ex-Internationals Cup Celebrates Football, Legacy and Impact

Lagos is set for a memorable football Sunday as the Bet9ja Foundation Ex-Internationals Cup reaches its grand finale at the iconic Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

Football legends, fans, football stakeholders and dignitaries are expected to converge on the venue for a day that promises competitive football, nostalgia and a celebration of the lasting contribution of Nigeria’s football heroes.

The day’s action begins at 12:00 noon with the third-place encounter between FC Okpara and FC Alloy, before the much-anticipated final between FC Babington and FC Enegwea gets underway at 3:00pm.

The third-place fixture presents both teams with an opportunity to end their campaign on a high. FC Alloy carries the name and legacy of former Nigerian goalkeeper Alloy Agu, while FC Okpara represents the legacy of former Super Eagles defender Godwin Okpara, whose career included spells with Paris Saint-Germain and RC Strasbourg.

The main event will see FC Babington take on FC Enegwea for the championship.

FC Babington is led by Bode Babington, a former Nigerian professional goalkeeper who featured for Stationery Stores FC and Julius Berger FC and represented Nigeria at youth international level.

Standing in their way is FC Enegwea, mentored by Taiwo Enegwea, a former player of Lagos YSFON, Eagle Oil, First Bank and Union Bank who also represented Nigeria at U17, U20 and senior levels.

Beyond the trophies and competition, the Bet9ja Foundation Ex-Internationals Cup carries a deeper purpose. The initiative provides support for former internationals through welfare and medical programmes while creating mentorship opportunities for young footballers.
